Maddox was so completely done with everything and everyone. To watch a cabin get blown up was quite possibly his last straw. He didn’t even like the Athenian campers, but Zeus had gone too far. Camp was supposed to be the safest place on earth for the demigods, yet here they were, having to fear the explosion of their own cabins, whether or not they were inside them. It was so incredibly unfair, and if Maddox wasn’t completely terrified of Alex pushing him off the summit of Olympus, he would give Zeus a piece of his mind.
“Hey there.” He murmured, leaning down to press a kiss to her forehead. It was so nice to see her there, and still unhurt, with a little bump pressing into the bottom of his own abdomen. “I never leave my cabin. So let’s not hope Zeus does something funny and makes mine explode.” Maddox wouldn’t lie and say he didn’t expect some funny business from Zeus toward him. He had impregnated one daughter, raped another, and cheated on pregnant daughter with non-pregnant daughter.
Alex didn’t really understand how Maddox could seem so calm throughout all of this, but then again, maybe he wasn’t. Maybe he was freaking out on the inside like Alex was. She was afraid that some of the gods would retaliate against Zeus and come after her or her siblings, so she had to go up to Olympus and resolve things before they got the chance. “Don’t even joke.” She told Maddox, sighing contently before pulling out of his arms. She slung the backpack over her shoulders and bit her lip. “I’m getting too damn old for this.” Alex told him, halfway joking.
She would’ve been eager to do all of this a few years ago, but that was back when she thought that the gods actually gave a damn about any of their children. “Remember when Morpheus was starting that war, and he wanted to put me in Zeus’ throne? I keep thinking that this all could’ve been prevented if I would’ve just gone along with that.” Alex spoke as they made their way to the gates. There were harpies there blocking them, but they knew that Alex left frequently, so they didn’t try to stop them. “No matter what happens up there, I love you, alright?” Alex asked, cringing a little. She was worried that things were going to get messy.
Alex was over her bullshit level tonight. She hadn’t been up in the skies for almost a week now, because she thought that they could keep it together. She couldn’t believe that Zeus had done something that affected the camp so drastically. Everyone was terrified and they were all turning to Alex with answers. She wished that she could answer it all, but she couldn’t. Alex’s main rule throughout her life was to always protect herself over everyone else, and now that was finally starting to come into play again.
She shoved a change of clothes into her backpack as well as vitamins, since she had to take them for the baby. No matter what that she had to go through, she still wanted her kid to be better off. That was partly why she wanted to keep Maddox safe, so that their son or daughter would have him even if they didn’t have her. Alex walked out to the front door of her cabin and smiled softly when she saw that Maddox was just arriving. The first thing she did was wrap her arms around his waist and pull him into her. “I’m so glad you’re safe.” She breathed.

Don’t talk to any of the gods, your boyish charm isn’t going to work on them. Stay behind me and stay outside when I talk to Zeus. I don’t want to risk you being killed.
